(Sugar Hill GA – November 2, 2015) MTI Baths’ Juliet tub has been awarded Special mention in the Bath & Wellness category of the German Design Awards – one of the most highly respected international design competitions in the world.

The German Design Council selects a panel of international design experts to judge the entries. They selected the Juliet tub for the Special Mention award as a result of its dramatic fluid lines and asymmetrical, organic shape.

The German Design Award is given by the German Design Council, a foundation created by the German federal parliament. According to a German Design Council statement, the jury for the award stated that the German Design Award winners have “managed to successfully set themselves apart from the masses and are subsequently entitled to compete with the finest in the field of product design.” The Special Mention distinction is awarded to products whose designs feature “particularly successful sub-aspects or solutions—an ‘award that honors the commitment of companies and designers,’” the statement said. “It is a huge honor to win the prestigious German Design Award,” stated Russell Adams, MTI’s President and Chief of Design who worked in tandem with Audrey Newsome of Audrey Newsome Designs. “The Juliet tub was actually inspired by an antique bowl which evoked something striking and unexpected,” said Newsome. “It resulted in a visually dramatic tub that seamlessly combines fluidity and elegance with modern convenience.”

“What makes Juliet unique is that as your viewing angle changes, so does its shape to your eyes,” notes Newsome. “The form moves with you. At one particular angle the infinity symbol is evident by the tub’s asymmetrical design.” Manufactured in MTI’s proprietary, organic Engineered Solid Stone™, the Juliet measures 72” x 36” x 32” and is available as a soaker or air bath and features an integral pedestal and integrated slotted overflow with a chrome toe-tap drain.
